TWO-STROKE TUESDAY: BIG JOHN’S CR500

Big John’s late ’90s Honda CR500 is the center of our attention on this week’s Two-Stroke Tuesday brought to you by Boyesen. We have items from DP Brakes, Samco Hoses and Lucas Oil in the Two-Stroke Hardware section and Two-Stroke Theater is packed full of insane premix-burning project bikes. Don’t miss the exclusive link to “The one bike to ride before you die.”

Pictures do not do this build justice! John spent a couple years building this machine and, as you can tell, he did it the right way. It helps that he is a member of the John Burr Cycles parts department. Having a few friends at Honda doesn’t hurt either.

The engine was rebuilt using all OEM Honda parts to stock specifications because, after all, who needs more power out of a CR500? As you can see, it uses aftermarket items from Service Honda, IMS, Pro Circuit, Works Connection and Dunlop.

GPR Stabilizers and Pro Taper added some much needed comfort.

Dubya added a set of red Talon hubs laced up with oversized spokes and black DID Dirt Star rims.

The crew at Precision Concepts handled the suspension and Big John rides his CR500 at least once a week. The graphics from Throttle Jockey are a throwback to the 1-800-Collect Honda made famous by the King Jeremy McGrath.
