TOMAC DOMINATES BUDDS CREEK; CLINCHES THIRD TITLE

Eli Tomac couldn’t have asked for a better way to cap off his 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship run, by winning the final two motos that he needed to clinch the title before the final round in Indiana next weekend. The day started off a bit slow for the now three time champ, unable to match the speed of Ken Roczen and Marvin Musquin in the morning qualifying sessions. He found the speed come time for the motos, though, and was able to finish out the day strong. Jason Anderson also had an excellent ride, going 4-2 for second overall and Marvin Musquin, who may have come up short on this year’s championship, still finished third overall today with his 3-3 moto scores. Here’s how the remainder of the 450 class riders finished in the day’s overall: (for extended coverage of the 2019 Budds Creek National MX, click here)

450 Moto One

Once again, Justin Bogle led the field of 450 class riders through the first turn of moto one with Eli Tomac right there ready to make a move. It wasn’t long before Tomac was able to get around Bogle for the lead, but Ken Roczen moved up there right with him to challenge for the moto win. Eli would hold off Kenny for the lead and the moto win, Roczen had a solid ride to finish second and Marvin Musquin rounded out the podium in third. 450 Moto Two

The start of moto two saw Marvin Musquin and Zach Osborne both get great jumps off the gate and through the first corner. Eli Tomac squeezed his way through the mass in the first turn to end up right next to Osborne over the holeshot line, passing for the lead shortly after. From there, Tomac was able to pull away and win the moto. Jason Anderson and Zach Osborne had a nice battle between the two, with Anderson getting the better end of the stick. Marvin Musquin made his way up into third by the end of the moto, but it was too little too late as Tomac was not only able to win the day’s overall but Musquin and Roczen’s second moto finishes sealed the deal on Eli’s third consecutive Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in the 450 class.
