Eli Tomac had a day that all riders dream of. He won both motos easily and made it look natural. The next race is in his home state of Colorado., too.

The results from last week’s Lucas Oil Motocross National season opener at Sacramento were reaffirmed this week at Glen Helen Raceway. The fast guys from last weekend were still fast. Most notably, Eli Tomac was outstanding. Ryan Dungey was fast, just as we was at Hangtown, and was able to hang with Tomac longer, particularly in moto one. But Dungey stalled his motor twice in the first moto, and that cost him a certain second place overall. In the 250 class last week, Marvin Musquin and Jeremy Martin battled themselves into a points tie, but this week it was all Musquin, while Martin had horrible luck between crashes and a mysterious inability to get the bike started for moto one. His big brother Alex had the best moto of his career in the second race. Here are some of the sights.

peicksm — Weston Peick was his usual gritty self, while Jason Anderson had and up and down day. Anderson’s first moto started with a crash involving Ken Roczen, but his second moto was much better. He was one of very few riders clearing this jump late in the day.

2strokestart — Sean Collier got a huge roar of approval when he showed up to race his KX500 in the FMF Two-Stroke Challenge. He won, then turned around to race the National on his KX450F where he got 25th.

250start — The KTMs dominated the 250 class. Jeremy Martin actually couldn’t get his bike started for the start of the first moto.

Jessy Nelson gave Musquin a hard race in moto one.

Justin Barcia inherited second place in the first moto when Ryan Dungey stalled his KTM. He was fourth in the second round but still got second overall.

justinrace — ISDE Junior World member Justin Jones was 28th in his first National MX, but had to hurry to load up at the end of the day to drive to Cedar City Utah for a WORCS race.

collierKX — Sean Collier’s lap times on his KX500 weren’t that far off his KX450 times.

collierruts — Light rainfall made for excellent traction, but the ruts were inescapable in the second moto.

martin — Jeremy Martin went 11-2 on the day, but was otherwise delighted to see his big brother get second in the second moto.

roczen — Ken Roczen fell in the first moto, but was much faster than he was in Sacramento.

seelystart — Cole Seely and Chad Reed had a rough day. Both riders struggled to regain form.
