THE WEEKLY FEED: HOT MOTO HITS, EXTREME OFF-ROAD & MAGOO

EXPOSURE

An iconic shot of Danny Chandler at the 1979 Sears Point TransAMA race takes us back to our roots in motocross. Maico’s were still renowned for their handling prowess and Magoo’s style, his dress (Hi Points, long socks pulled over the tops of his boots, Scott goggles and Griffs pants was classic 70s moto. Thanks to Mark Kiel for the look back in history.

GALLERY: TOUGH LIKE RORR EXTREME OFF-ROAD

Kenda Tough Like RORR’S extreme event is put on by the  Reading Off-Road Riders in Pennsylvania. It’s held in an active mining pit and is a series of merciless  rock gardens, vertical climbs and ugly downhills which require every skill that a serious extreme racers must endure. Trail Jesters Racing Ben Kelley rider took control of the race quickly and after three-and-a-half hours of racing in 100 degree weather, he took the win and put the $5000 prize in his bank account.

Josh Toth fought in the tough terrain with his buddy Ben Kelley. The duo are two of the up coming stars who are taking control of tough races.
Beta’s Jordan Ashburn grabbed the start, but had some mechanical issues that dropped him back. The 100-degree weather did not help.
Sherco’s Nick Fahringer came in hot, just winning the Mad Moose Extreme race. He ended up 7th.

Grant Baylor had a miserable starting time by virtue of a bad qualifying effort. He worked through the rock gardens and the heat to finish on the podium.

Kenny Zahrt was the man, a mad leaper and superb form were always a highlight. Raised on Bultaco’s, KZ could race anything and be competitive. Here he’s on a Vehkonen Replica Montesa.
