TECH 7 OR TECH 10 BOOTS? MR. KNOW-IT-ALL

WHICH BOOT IS RIGHT FOR ME?
Dear Mr. Know-It-All,
This may be a dumb question, but I am in a quandary about which boot to buy. I’m an off-road guy, riding trails, some dual-sport and occasionally hit our local motocross track. I’ve always been an Alpinestars guy, going back to the Hi-Point days, and want to know, do I need the total high-end coverage of the Tech 10, or is the Tech 7 fine for my needs?

Mark, Mark, Mark. I would prefer to slam your request with a tirade of verbiage criticizing you for wasting my valuable time, but, alas, I cannot. This exact question came up when one of our editors was out with Cody Webb on a photo shoot and noticed he was wearing Tech 7s. When asked why he shunned the higher-end Tech 10s, he gave us the skinny. For fun riding and most extreme races, he prefers the fit and feel of the Tech 7. It’s lighter, supremely comfortable and offers the protection he needs for these tasks. But, for EnduroCross, he always wears Tech 10s. According to Cody, the brutality of that discipline requires protection for his ankles, as the huge hits, log leaps and close-quarter racing is hard on his lower legs. The Tech 10 gives him both serious support and the needed protection.

Cody Webb prefers the extra protection of the Tech 10 (top) for endurocross and the feel of Tech 7 (bottom) for extreme riding.
