2019 YAMAHA YZ250F, FIRST RIDE

2019 YAMAHA YZ250F

The 2019 Yamaha YZ250F is new and every part is completely different, but it’s still a very familiar bike. That’s because it shares its chassis with the new generation Yamaha YZ450F, which was revealed one year ago. Yamaha also redesigned the YZ250F motor around electric start, and paid special emphasis to the valve train. The valves are larger, the cams are more aggressive and the buckets are wider, which result in more peak power.

One of the most interesting aspects of the bike is that it can be tuned from a lawnchair without even touching a wrench. The Yamaha Power Tuner App can be installed on any smartphone and allows the owner to alter the spark advance and fuel map. The 250 also has a handlebar-mounted map switch that lets you choose between any two maps on the fly. In this episode of The ’19s Video Series, we take you along on our first ride of the bike at Milestone MX in Riverside, California, and for Yamaha’s original press release and tech info on the 2019 YZ250F, click here.
