YOSHIMURA RACE REPORT BUDDS CREEK

June 24th, 2013 – Chino, CA

Yoshimura’s Hahn and Tomac have the Speed and determination at Budds Creek

AMA Motocross. Mechanicsville, MD

Just a stone’s throw from the Nation’s capital, the Budds Creek national played host to a great weekend of racing. The weather was great and the track was prime. Yoshimura backed riders Will Hahn, Trey Canard, and Broc Tickle posted some of their best results of the season, while the rest of the crew maintained their top 10 championship points standings.

Yoshimura-backed GEICO Honda grabbed both holeshots of the day, as Wil Hahn and his freshly-healed hand started the Outdoor season with a bang. Teammate Eli Tomac put together a commendable Moto 2 by absolutely running away with the victory. Tomac showed impeccable prowess as he was able to put together such a great race after a disappointing Moto 1. The team finished on the podium, with Tomac’s 2nd overall. Eli is currently 2nd place in the Championship points with Teammates Zach Osborne, Justin Bogle and Wil Hahn in tow with 5th, 9th, and 18th, respectively.

Yoshimura-powered Muscle Milk Honda rider Trey Canard posted his best result of the season, as he made it to the box with a 3rd overall. Consistent finishes from Canard earned him the points needed to break into the top 3 for the day. He currently sits comfortably 4th in the Championship points, right behind teammate Justin Barcia. Budds Creek wasn’t as favorable to Barcia as were previous rounds this season.  He managed a 5th overall though, even after an 8th in Moto 2 put him out of the podium hunt. The Honda teammates currently sit 3rd and 4th in the Championship Points.

Yoshimura-backed RCH Suzuki rider Broc Tickle had a remarkable weekend, scoring a top 5 finish in Moto 2. He remarked about his finish, saying that he capitalized on the week off, by heading down to Ricky Carmichael’s Florida facility and spending a considerable amount of time practicing and putting in the work needed to improve his results. The hard work payed off, as Tickle went 10-5 for 7th overall. Broc currently sits comfortably 9th in the Championship Points.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart was the fastest 450 rider in practice. He had a struggle putting the numbers to good use, however, and was once again on the wrong side of Lady Luck. Missing the holeshot in the first moto, scuttled him mid pack where he was unable to get to the front. He did, however have a nice battle going on with his brother Malcom in Moto 2 inside the top 5. He eventually went down, giving the 3rd place position to the younger Stewart. Despite James’ lackluster finish, he sits 6th in the Championship Points.

Yoshimura R&D riders look forward to the sands of Southwick, as they prepare to do battle in Round 6, next weekend at MotoX338 in Massachusetts.
