KTM’s Jonny Walker continues to clock up race wins in extreme enduro, this time by securing victory at round three of the 2015 British Extreme Enduro Championship.
Using the event as a healthy shakedown ahead of next week’s Red Bull Romaniacs event in Romania, Walker arrived at Cowm Quarry in the North of England in confident spirits.
Opting to compete on a KTM 250 EXC-F instead of his usual 300 EXC two-stroke, Walker quickly felt at home on the small bore four-stroke.
Recovering quickly following a small fall while pushing to take the race lead immediately after the start, Walker soon settled into the rhythm of the race.
Pushing hard, the KTM rider then grabbed the race lead early on and set about building an advantage over his closest competitor Graham Jarvis.
Gelling well with the rocky course, Jonny opened up a comfortable lead to secure a commanding four-minute margin of victory.
Walker now looks forward to the defense of his Red Bull Romaniacs crown on July 14.
Jonny Walker: “It’s been great to get a win. Overall the race pretty much went to plan for me. I had a small mistake just after the start when I tagged Graham’s rear wheel, ran out of room and fell over. It was a bit of a rookie error that one. But thankfully it didn’t really cost me much time. Once I settled in and got into the lead, I found a good pace I was comfortable with. Riding my 250f was a nice change and it really suited the nature of the track. It was good to mix things up and race something different ahead of next week’s Red Bull Romaniacs.”
