On this week’s Two-Stroke Tuesday brought to you by Boyesen, we give you another update on our Wayne Ransom KX500AF build straight from the builder himself. The things he is doing will blow your mind! All we have to say is titanium, titanium and more titanium. Two-Stroke Hardware is packed full of product from companies like CCR Sports, Rescuepegs and Ricochet with Two-Stroke Theater delivering that good stuff for your viewing pleasure. If you missed the first KX500AF update don’t worry we give you the exclusive link at the end of this post. DON’T MISS IT THIS TIME!

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 9.44.23 PMStarting to dial in my consistency on these welds for my titanium kx500af subframe … been a minute. This joint is for the cross tube/seat support. All tubes are fully purged with argon.

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 9.42.17 PMTitanium cross tube formed and fit for this subframe. I formed this from a round piece of 3al2.5v cwsr tube. It had to be flat on top because this is where the seat pan rests.

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 9.33.29 PMA little titanium weld detail on the part I posted previously. The plate is .125″ thick, the tube is .052″ wall thickness. Almost done with the subframe.

I just have to finish the seat catch on the front of the titanium KX500AF subframe and it’s finished. I’m out of time tonight so I’ll wrap this up early this week. I don’t know if it’s me but it feels a lot lighter than the stock unit. I will scorch it when I’m completely finished with it.

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 9.50.08 PMHere’s the weight comparison 2 lb 6.7 oz for the stock 2016-17 KX450F subframe on the left. And 1 lb 14.2 oz for my titanium subframe on the right. That is a weight saving of 8.5 oz, just over a half pound. So my original weight savings calculation of 6 oz was pretty close. 8.5 oz lighter and about twice as strong. I believe I can shave 4-6 oz off this design and still be stronger than the factory unit.

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 9.54.34 PMThis Titanium fuel tank that I bought doesn’t seem to fit too good. The package said, “some assembly required.” Time to make some noise.

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 9.58.01 PMA piece of aluminum filler rod shows the redesigned tank/seat line. A little dome in the tank top for the flush mount cap gives the styling a little more flow. And also helps regain fuel capacity otherwise lost by a flush mount style cap.

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 10.02.36 PMThe seat section of my 2016-17 KX450F handmade titanium fuel tank formed in three pieces. It could have been done in one piece, but time won’t allow for it. I have to finish welding these joints and then I can shape the rear edges so they wrap down around the tank. This section is definitely the most complex of all the pieces needed.

Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 10.03.54 PMHere’s the titanium panel I was forming in the previous post/video for this 2016-17 KX450F fuel tank. Now I can move on to forming the fuel tank side panels. When those panels are finished we can weld it up and planish out the welds before forming the tank bottom.

The CCR Sport Bed Buddy is a motorcycle tie down rack that is designed to reinforce the front bulkhead of your trucks bed to prevent damage from occurring when pulling your load down tight while simultaneously stabilizing your motorcycles.

FEATURES

  • Three tapered wheel slots prevent front tire slip and accommodate any width tire. Front tire slip can cause serious damage to your hauler and motorcycle and these slots prevent that.
  • The three heavy-duty tie down loops provide great tie down points unlike those factory hooks that never seem to be in the right location for tying down your motorcycles. The center hook does away with having to crisscross your straps and route them through spokes and over tires.
  • Check out the 3rd Bike Extender to see how you can transport three full size motorcycles side-by-side with out handlebar interference.

Price : $149.99
