A HISTORY LESSON: TY DAVIS WINS 3 WORCS CHAMPIONSHIPS…IN ONE YEAR!

Back in 2003 the WORCS series had switched from a West Coast based off-road series, to separate East and West championships and would feature one overall champion. Bill Gusse set up the eastern venues while Dave Hamil and his crew handled the west. The finale was held at Cooperland (Guy Cooper’s track), which all hoped would feature a generous mix of terrain that both sides of the country would enjoy. Heading into the Cooperland finale Ty had already wrapped up the Western Championship, and needed to finish in front of Brian Garrahan, who was knee deep in the Eastern Points chase. Lance Smail was the big winner of the day, but Ty Davis finished third and won all three overall championships that went with the WORCS series.

Former motocross star Lance Smail took his WR450 and dominated the action at the Cooperland WORCS finale.

Northern California’s Brian Garrahan took on the East Coast WORCS series and needed to beat Ty Davis in the final to claim the championship. He’d finish 6th, three slots behind Ty.

Scott Sheak, another former motocrosser was in the hunt until mistakes let Smail get away. Scott ended up second for the day.

Nathan Woods had a miserable day with crashes, a gas stop malady and finally a flat tire pushed him back to 19th overall.

Developed by the JGRMX race team, the JGRMX Yamaha shift lever features a plethora of performance advantages. The no-clog, free folding, knurled shift lever tip ensures that it will not get packed with dirt. A CNC machined 7075 aluminum arm is much stronger than the stock part, and is anodized in a proprietary JGRMX color for a sleek look. The splines are cut using Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), resulting in a precise fit and maximum strength characteristics. A DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) titanium pivot pin provides fluid rotation of the shift lever tip, while a circlip all but eliminates the possibility that the pivot pin will become dislodged. An indentation mark on the shift lever arm simplifies installation location. A laser etched JGR logo completes the look. All parts proudly made in the U.S.A. $149.95

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY

The year, 2007. The setting, Coalinga, California. The night before the event the skies belched hard and left trail that was brutal, slick and a survival race for normal humans. I took my KTM300 to a second place in class and at no time did I smile at the fun factor. It was zilch!  This was also one of the last National Enduros to come out west. Thanks to Mark Kariya for the pic.
