THE ROMANIACS- THE PROLOGUE

The fifth round of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship at Red Bull Romaniacs got underway in spectacular fashion with Spain’s Alfredo Gomez claiming the prologue win in Romania. AG Racing Team 89’s Alfredo Gomez thrilled the thousands of spectators gathered in Sibiu to take the win over GASGAS Factory Racing’s Taddy Blazusiak, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Manuel Lettenbichler in third.

Round five of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship at Red Bull Romaniacs was quickly up to full speed with the infamous city prologue. Competitors from over 50 nations gathered to test themselves on one of the most challenging street courses in the world.

Alfredo Gomez battled hard with Blazusiak for the short prologue victory.

With all eyes on the Gold class final, it was shaping up to be an intense 10-minute race. Gomez qualified fastest, but Blazusiak, Lettenbichler, Sherco Factory Racing’s Mario Roman, and TTR Racing’s Dominik Olszowy were all on the front row and eager to get out ahead.

Lettenbichler was quickest off the line and grabbed an early lead, with Gomez and Blazusiak in hot pursuit. A mistake on the tyres by Lettenbichler saw Gomez and Blazusiak push through to the front, before Blazusiak then made his way into the lead.

The GASGAS rider opened a slender gap, but entering the closing stages Gomez was back on his wheel tracks. With one lap to go, there was all to play for, and the heavy traffic was set to become a factor. With Taddy going one way, Alfredo gambled on the other and it paid off as the Spaniard rode clear to win.

Taddy is back after 4-months of rehab, finishing third in the Romaniacs Prologue.

JARVIS LEADS AFTER DAY ONE AT THE ROMANIACS

Graham Jarvis is out to an early race lead at round five of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship with victory on Off-road Day 1 at Red Bull Romaniacs. The Jarvis Racing Team rider put in a masterclass of riding in Romania to comfortably top the standings by over four minutes from Team Bulgaria powered by ECONT’s Teodor Kabakchiev in second. FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Trystan Hart took third.

Taddy Blazusiak, one of the winningest racers in the hard enduro world returned to action at the Red Bull Romanics. Here’s a look back at his past championships: Polish Trial Championship from 1999-2003 and 2005-2007, the German Trial Championship in 2003 and 2004, and the European Trial Championship in 2004. Błażusiak switched to enduro in 2007 and won the Erzberg Rodeo extreme race for the first time. He then signed with the KTM factory team, claiming four straight wins at the race from 2008 to 2011. He won the 2007 Last Man Standing in Bulcher, Texas; earned second at the 2008 The Tough One and first in 2009; and won the Hell’s Gate in 2008 and 2009. In 2008 he collected four wins and a second in the 2009 AMA EnduroCross season, claiming his first title, followed that with a championship in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
