BLAST FROM THE PAST

Terry Cunningham took control of the National Enduro reigns when Dick Burleson retired. TC was an animal, always the aggressor in comparison to Burleson’s ballet style, TC went on to win 4 National Enduro Championships, 6 ISDE Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal as well as being a member of the 1982 ISDE team, and was twice named AMA Amateur Athlete of the year. Terry, shown here on his Husky Auto, used the unique shiftless machine to tame the toughest of enduros in his battle with teammate Mike Melton for woods superiority.

FATHER AND SON

This last weekends Day in the Dirt event was huge. Look for a photo section today, but here’s a look at a Father and son in the morning team race. The dad, my buddy BP is on the HL TT500 and his son Brice is on a 1978 YZ400.

IN THE GARAGE

That’s three of my Skunk helmets, shadowed by a factory Bell Moto 3 that I retired after Blackwater in 1986. It still has the stick on numbers from the event.

The inside of my ’79 Chevy van, circa 1980. Love that sign.

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY

wolffeeddbdw
This is on the backside of Texas Canyon 1986. The Honda XR’s were big and bulky, but had morphed into versatile off-roaders that soon came to own the desert and Baja. 1983 was the first full year of the 600 and in several short years with the help of Bruce Ogilvie the machine slimmed down (from the 300 lb. mark), was on the receiving end of a good cartridge fork and a myriad of handling improvements. Then this Baja dominator turned into a GNCC weapon under the tutelage of Scott Summers.
