BLAST FROM THE PAST

Because this is Barstow to Vegas Week I did a little digging and am throwing out a smattering of B to V mud and hope it sticks. Enjoy.

This is the sort of image of B to V that inflamed environmentalists and pretty much shut down B to V from 1975 to 1982.

GUESS WHO?

This man has the world wide distinction of building more exhaust pipes for dirt bikes than anyone on the planet. And he’s my riding buddy- FMF’s Donnie Emler and he’s mounted on his hybrid Suzuki RM250 but… fit with a KTM 300 engine. Big D is a terror on this sucker!

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY

IMG_1615
The Wolfster, 1980 on my Kolbe Cycles Can-Am 400. I had great results with this scoot, possibly due to the support from Andy Kolbe and my great friend Pete Smith who dragged me to all of the enduros in the western U.S. I had just started at Dirt Bike here, Andy and I grafted on a YZ250 fork and front wheel (worked ridiculously superb) and while the 400 wasn’t the fastest dude on the circuit, it made great bottom to mid power and I never DNFed this entire year!
IMG_0153
That’s yours truly, YZ250 mounted and my good friend “the Leaper” Fran Kuhn at our track that we dubbed “Unadilla West”. Fran and I worked together for years and he is still one of the most talented photographers that I’ve been around. Pretty sure that this was 1986.
