A MEAN CASE OF IRONY
Eli Tomac went into the Colorado National after winning the first four motos of 2015 in a dominant statement. His world jettisoned into chaos with a huge crash on the exact downhill that claimed James Stewart in 2012, after he too had won the first four motos of the year. JS7’s crash broke his hand and he never recovered his winning speed that season. And who went on to win the championship?
RD5.
How bad is Eli hurt? Two cooked shoulders isn’t bueno and now his year has been shelved. There is no doubt that this has been the year of…

GNARLY TRACK
Everyone is talking about how brutal the tracks are this year. We talked with Team Yoshimura Suzuki’s Mike Webb and he believes that there are several factors at work here. First TV has changed the Outdoors, the tracks are shorter, there’s a time schedule and until this year, they’ve been groomed more than ever. Mike said that Roger DeCoster has fought for more demanding and less manicured tracks, more like the GP’s in an effort to keep our Des Nations teams more competitive. Webb went on say that the cream always rises to the top the more technical a circuit is. The best team and best riders will always step up! And yes Martha, he and his boys likes them tough.

LAST DOG STANDING
Our buddies in the Prairie Dogs MC are working hard right now on the Last Dog Standing Extreme Enduro, which is scheduled for Glen Helen on June 13th. Ron Lawson and Ty Davis have pitched in with some of the course, which should be outrageous, as usual. Taylor Robert, Kyle Redmond and Cody Webb have all said they’ll be there. This year, the Last Dog is part of Glen Helen’s Dirt-X Weekend, which starts off with UTV practice on Mad Friday (the 12th), Last Dog Standing throughout the day on Saturday, and then goes straight into the John Burr 10 hours of Glen Helen, which is a night race starting at 10 p.m. If Ron gets his act together and gets the course marked early enough (after the Last Dog Standing is done), there should be enough time for a daylight sight lap.

SACRAMENTO MILE
You can always count on the AMA Pro Flat Track GNC2 class to put on a show that will not disappoint and Saturday Night’s Sacramento mile was no exception as Motorcycle Superstore Bell Helmet’s Nick Armstrong powered his Southland Racing Honda to the overall class win.
This was Armstrong’s first career win and it was a close one as you could have thrown a blanket over the top three riders. It took Nick every lap before finally grabbing the lead finishing only 0.063 in front of Tristan Avery. Brandon Wilhelm finished 3rd 0.73 behind the leader.

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY
“This was day one of the 1994 Nevada Rally. I flatted three times and with 60 miles left I was out of tubes so I rode it in flat. Incredibly the tire held up well…for a bit…so I got uppity and kept the speeds fairly high thinking I could nurse in a good time for the day. The tire exploded when I was in fifth gear, humming not honking, since the ‘Works’ Honda would pull 105mph. Cruising at around 70mph and riding very far forward to keep weight off the rear tire, the bike slammed to a stop when the tire exploded and wrapped around the rear frame loop. I gracefully exited in the full Superman mode and ate a big fat Nevada desert sandwich. My buddy Grumpy shot this of me just a few miles from the finish, taking her home on the rim.”
