BLAST FROM THE PAST

Local So Cal hotshoe Bobby Kline is tearin’ it up on the International Track at Indian Dunes in 1976. Mark Kiel nailed the action and if you look closely you can see the radical radial finned cylinder and head, that was copiously mated to Uncle Donnie’s port work, down pipe and carb mods. This was the start of a dynasty.

ANAHEIM SUPERCROSS- RANDOM BITS AND PIECES

Cooper Webb should win every single west coast Lites race (blame a weak field). Plan on seeing him as a Factory Yamaha racer next year.

Talk about coming on fire! Chad Reed showed great speed coupled to horrific starts. Word has it that by this time next year he’ll have Cooper Webb and Jeremy Martin as teammates.

Blake Baggett should be back racing by the Oakland round January 30th. Docs told the Suzuki team that his fitness level is so off-the-charts that the rebound time from surgery was dramatically reduced.

barciarear
Justin Barcia showed good speed following stellar starts, only to suffer from arm pump and fade way back.

Dungey IMG_4922
Dungey overcame drama when he crashed and had to qualify from the Semi, mowed down Stewart in the first Main and forced a restart, got taken out by Canard and STILL ended up second. Makes you wonder why he’s packing so many championships.

Zach
Team Rockstar Husky rider Zach Osborne was pumped to finish on the podium- nearly 18 seconds behind second place rider Jessy Nelson!!! The Lites race was really a yawner.

MillsapsShock
Millsaps ran one of the WP rear air shocks on his KTM. Davi looked good in his heat, but tight in the main.

Screen Shot 2016-01-11 at 11.51.16 AM
Eli Tomac had some of the best starts of his career and then raced tight and was all over the track. Word has it that he hated the KYB air fork and will be testing a spring version (rumor says that this is what Roczen is running on his Suzuki) in San Diego.

MIke Alessi’s Yoshimura exhaust got hacked and lengthened, a usual sign that they’re searching for better bottom response on their Honda. His results were not stunning.

All of the Yamaha’s (both Factory and JGR) are running front fender mounted GET launch control and mapping system in with an easy to read light dial.

Just talked to brother Mike and he says that it looks very likely that James will race in San Diego, but they have to wait until Friday for the final balance test. They’re actually pretty pumped at Yosh, liking JS7’s speed, starts and calm attitude. Mike says James thought he rode tight and wasn’t off the charts with his performance. MWebb says that they’re always at work on fork settings, which is a continual battle.

hartluckSo proud of @rchracing crew. These are the moments that separate the men from they boys. @kenroczen94 1st turn crash destroyed the bike from the radiator to the front tire. In about 8 minutes time they had him back on the gate and ready to rip with confidence in his machine. It’s nights like this that make the wins that much better. Thanks guys for your hard work and dedication. @rchracing @soaringeagleresort @jimmyjohns @suzukicycles @bel_raycompany @foxheadinc

1978 SUPERBOWL OF MOTOCROSS

In 1978 Bob “Hurricane” Hannah was on track to win his 2nd Supercross Championship for Yamaha. He would enter the famed LA Coliseum poised to wrap up the title, but there would be some obstacles in his path. Mainly, his young Yamaha teammate, Mike Bell. This is the story of one of the greatest races in Supercross history. Produced by the producers of “The Motocross Files” and written and directed by Todd Huffman. Special thanks to Yamaha and their 60th Anniversary Celebration for making it happen

Another age related trail ride shot. Peppered like I was ambushed in Vietnam, only it was bushes that shotgunned me.

Humm, needed garage juice and a little incentive from my good friend Jerry Bernardo.

Oh great, more old man thin skin carnage following a leisurely trail ride. Sucks.

A little MTB training and a bleeder when I didn’t know I was punctured!

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY

Mental captured my outside of Mojave on a KTM 360 (maybe a 380) jumping a third gear gorge jump that would give me a heart attack today!!
