THE WEEKLY FEED: RYAN DUNGEY CIRCA 2012 AND THE NEW KTM RIDE

A HISTORY LESSON

2012. Ryan Dungey and KTM were a new experiment, Nike was into motocross, Ken Roczen was coming to grips with the Lites class, and the AMA had a WMX pro class for women that was battling on the national tracks. A few years makes a big difference. Photo by Karel Kramer

A1 OUT TAKES

Our own Travvy captured Robbie Wageman a current Dirt Bike test rider, and Broc Shoemaker a former DB tester in action at Anaheim.
Both Roczen and Seely are using factory hydraulic clutches on their Hondas. Interesting though that Ken has switched from KYB suspension to Showa, while Seely runs KYB. Both are spring forks.

Chad Reed came into A1 with almost zero track time as he was nursing an injury that kept him off the bike. Still he finished top 15 on his KYB suspended Husqvarna FC450.

Cooper Webb gets the ‘are you kidding award’ when he blatantly taunted Roczen with a stare back whip and a block pass that nearly took Ken out in the heat race.

This Social post of Eli donning suspenders after this pants got ripped off at A1 is hysterical.

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY

Circa 1981. Sunrise Cycle park and testing the brand new YZ465. The machine featured a new beefier 43mm KYB fork, a stronger front brake and enhanced rear suspension valving. The coolest thing about testing with Yamaha back then was that Ed Scheidler always brought out our new test machine and a brand new version from the prior year so that the evaluation was always apples to apples. With a direct comparison you never went “I think that last years bike was…”
