Let’s start 2019 with passion!
Here’s a refreshing tip from my buddy Ron Ribolzi, the bossman at E Line.
WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY
Chilly White posted this and it brought back memories. It was 1978, the Cal State 100 National Enduro in Lucerne Valley. I had a good weekend prior in Alamogordo, New Mexico, driving up with my buddy Pete Smith and Dan Guinn in his Ford Camper (it might make a good story for the Betty Ford Clinic!), but got sick prior to the Cal State 100. I was on row one with Pete, they started us straight into the sun and I missed a turn arrow right off the start and picked up ribbon from the end of the loop. Everyone followed me and when I found a mileage marker pointed backwards I knew that things were gonna get ugly. It turned into mass chaos with everyone trying to find the course. When I finally found it I was twenty minutes late to the first check! Eventually I got back on time and was sitting at a reset, by myself when Dick Burleson (my total hero at the time) rolled up. Then Larry Roeseler sauntered in on his IT 175 Yamaha. I listened to their conversation talking about what a cluster the race was and what they’d do to the idiot that got everyone lost. I stayed quiet, covered my front numberplate with my gloves and pretended to work on my bike. Everyone was running low on fuel (because they added a good bit of mileage to the loop trying to find the course) and the Gas Available was critical to get in. Mike Hannon had no fuel there and borrowed some to get in. Now 41 years later, sorry Mike- my fault!
