We conned Bob Hannah into riding our production YZ250 for the cover of the May 1982 issue. Bob was testing in the California desert, gave us about a half hour on the brand new machine and called it a total pile. He hated the radiator feel up high, the weight of the machine and the total lack of manners. Thank heavens he was in a good mood!

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY
I found this photo in an old file cabinet. I’m racing a KTM 495 at Sunrise Cycle Park in 1981. It was the second race test I did for the magazine, having just started a few months earlier. The bike was flat gnarly, as I was accustomed to my very calm Can-Am 400 Enduro machine. That 495 had my arms forged into cement by the second lap of the moto!
