BLAST FROM THE PAST: THE HURRICANE RETURNS

Thomas Mueller captured this incredible shot of Bob Hannah attempting a comeback after a nasty injury in 1979 left him on the sidelines for more than a year.  In 1981 Hannah returned, though he could never quite regain the form that made him the most dominant American motocross racer in 1978. Love the classic Hannah style, Scott boots, open faced helmet and the first big name to don Smith goggles.

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY

Fran Kuhn snapped this pic of the Wolfster slamming laps at the DB test track tagged ‘Unadilla West’. The ATK 560 was a brute, this Rotax engine was specially tuned by Horst Leitner and came from the high horsepower flat track world. At the time it was one of the best 4-stroke motocrossers attempting to break into the 2-stroke dominated world.
