The Los Ancianos M.C. didn’t expect much of a turnout for the Tecates Hare Scrambles last weekend. As if the war and various scheduling conflicts weren’t enough, land use issues popped up at the last second, but everything was resolved on the day of the race, and it was a good thing because a huge number of sportsmen showed up. Pro entries, on the other hand, were very light. KTM’s Joey Lanza made easy work of the three hour race, winning by a huge margin. It was, perhaps, a victory for old guys, because five of the top ten riders were over 40. The 40 Experts were led by former District 37 Enduro Champion Grant Palenske, who passed Jim Beauchamp on the last of five laps around the 12-mile course. Full results will be posted on the Los Ancianos site (www.losancianos.com) within the week.
