Taddy wins 2010 Indoor Enduro World Cup title

KTM Enduro Factory Team / Red Bull rider Taddy Blazusiak is the ’10 Indoor Enduro World Cup champion having secured the title at the penultimate round of the series staged in Vigo, Spain. In winning all three finals Blazusiak continued his winning ways in the IEWC championship and dominated the event. Finishing on the top step of the podium Taddy placed ahead of Sweden’s Joakim Ljunggren and former IEWC title holder Ivan Cervantes.
Qualifying for the finals following a commanding win in his heat race Blazusiak made light work of both the fast Vigo track and his competition to claim three comfortable race wins. In the opening race Taddy started second behind team-mate Ivan Cervantes before moving into the lead at the end of lap one. Cervantes then made two costly mistakes that would see him finish down in sixth position while Taddy secured an all-important victory. The second and third finals saw Taddy claim the holeshot before opening up a sizeable lead and claiming two further wins.

Taddy’s next event will be the fourth and final round of the ’10 IEWC series in Barcelona on January 30th.
Taddy Blazusiak: ‘I’ve been after this championship for three years and although it’s a bit of a surprise to have won it before the final round of the series it’s a dream come true. It’s only 10 days into the New Year and already I have a title, which is great. Everything has really come together for me during the last 12 months. Winning the AMA Endurocross championship was something that I worked really hard for, now to win the FIM Indoor Enduro World Cup title it shows that things are continuing to go well.

‘I had two holeshots, so I was pleased with my starts. I was second behind Cervantes in the first final and I could see that he was pushing hard. I followed him for a little while and then moved into the lead. By the time Ivan made a mistake I already had a comfortable lead. The second final went really well. I pushed hard for the first two laps and then eased off a bit. In the last race I again pushed hard from the start but I knew that I could win the title so I just wanted to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes. There were a few places where it was easy to fall, but thankfully I didn’t make any mistakes and here I am with the title. Although I’m thrilled to have won the title I didn’t enjoy the event here in Vigo as much as some of the other rounds of the championship. I guess the track didn’t really suit me that well. I’m looking for the final round in Barcelona now.’
