Round 5 of 14

The scores are in and Rodney Smith has won his third race of the season. Smith, an elder statesman with four GNCC titles to his name, looks like he has once again found his winning form. The Suzuki rider bested the Yamaha team at the Big Buck GNCC, beating young gun Jason Raines and defending champ Barry Hawk. With two seconds separating first and second place, and six seconds between first and third, this race came down to the wire. After the dust settled the number 31 came out on top, a site that is becoming all too familiar this season. Following in fourth and fifth were Smith?s teammates, Steve Hatch and Mike Kiedrowski.

Consistency is key in GNCC racing, and thus far Rodney Smith has been showing how important it is to finish every race. Garnering scores of 1-5-12-1-1 through the first five rounds, it?s something for Rodney to write home about when looking at how Raines, Hawk, and Keidrowski have all DNF?ed. With a 14-point lead over Jason Raines, Smith is in the driver?s seat and doesn?t show any signs of slowing down. As for Raines, he put in another impressive ride and was well within striking distance of nabbing his second win of the season in South Carolina. With a moderate points gap between himself and Barry Hawk, Jason can only take things race by race and try to dethrone Rodney Smith from the top step of the podium.
