SIDI CROSSFIRE 3 SR: PRODUCT REVIEW

PRODUCT: Legendary for their design and renowned for their durability, the Crossfire boots from Sidi are at the top of the food chain for the serious dirt bike pilot. Completely redesigned, they highlight Sidi’s ability to pair innovation with tradition. Many of the features that made the Crossfire 2 SR boots so popular can be found in the 3s, just carefully refined with an emphasis on protection, fitment, comfort, and convenience for the everyday rider, weekend warrior and serious racer. A major protective component of the Crossfire 3 SR boots is their all-new ankle pivot system. Featuring a “hyper-extension block,” the technology prevents hyper-extension of the foot and ankle, limiting the rider’s risk of injury and instilling a sense of safety. The reformed heel is noteworthy as well, boasting a design that keeps the foot planted in the boot and resistant to twisting. These notable features, along with the other protective systems in the boot, are all shrouded in hard TPU and protective plastic for an extra layer of insurance.

OUR TAKE: Sidi’s Crossfire 3 SR boots rate top marks for instant comfort, almost zero break-in and superb protection. The flexibility and ease of break-in are phenomenal, as we were able to ride with these from day one with no comfort or flexing issues. The buckle system is superb and ultra-easy to lock down and unclip. Adjusting the buckles to your liking is a simple ordeal. The new inner boot gaiter has a larger circumference than the Crossfire 2, making for a tight seal around the rider’s lower leg no matter which knee-brace system may be used. The upper inside of the gaiter features an anti-heat suede-protection grip panel. Sidi has upgraded the entire SR sole system on the Crossfire 3 SR boots. The new sole “boat” features a more cupped and thicker design, so the rider’s foot rests deeper into the sole system. This change gives more engagement between the boot’s upper and sole in manufacturing, which will extend the boot’s lifespan. Replaceable by hand tools, the new Dovetail SR anti-skid rubber sole covers the arch area of the sole. Toe and heel areas on the new Dovetail SR sole are now a permanent part of the Crossfire 3 SR. Overall, the Crossfire 3 is expensive, superbly built, incredibly comfortable, and gets a huge thumbs up from the Dirt Bike staff.
