SHANE WATTS REPORT FROM GNCC ROUND 11–SEPT 29

SHANE WATTS REPORT FROM GNCC ROUND 11–SEPT 29

Following a heavy downpour on the morning of the race, conditions started off quite treacherous for the first few laps before starting to tack up into excellent loam towards the end of the race. Watts began the race with an extremely poor start and proceeded to circulate at a steady pace for the first half of the race, riding cautiously and trying to overcome the chronic arm pump and carpel tunnel problems that have been plaguing his 2005 season. With regained confidence in such nasty conditions Watts was able to pick up the pace significantly in the last few laps and cross the finish line in a well deserved 7th position.

“I?m definitely happy with the way things went,” Watts enthused during the long drive back to Florida. “Lately I haven?t been very strong in these types of conditions so it was great to progressively choose better lines as the race wore on. It was great to push my limit on the final two laps, with my best lap time of the race being on the last lap despite also suffering my only crash for the event then. I?m real excited about continuing to improve my speed and confidence for the remainder of this year as a lead up to an all out assault on the 2006 race season.”
