SAN BERNARDINO NATIONAL GALLERY

The second round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross series was the site of some hard racing and odd twists. Glen Helen Raceway hosted the race which attracted an enthusiastic spectator turnout. The crowd was treated to a bit of history being made in the 250 class. For the first time, a pair of brothers finished one-two on top of the podium. Star Yamaha’s Alex Martin was the winner with a pair of second place finishes. It was his first national win, and to make it sweeter, his brother and teammate Jeremy was second with a 4-1 score. Alex led most of the first moto, but allowed his other teammate Cooper Webb to get by in the final laps. Rookie Pro Circuit rider Austin Forkner had a spectacular ride to finish with a 3-5 for fourth behind Webb in the final standings.

The 450 class was a split result with the two most dominant riders in America sharing moto wins. Ryan Dungey inherited the first moto victory when Ken Roczen’s air fork lost pressure on the second to last lap. Roczen immediately dropped back to fourth, allowing the podium to show Dungey, Jason Anderson and Eli Tomac. In the second race, Roczen took the lead on lap one and kept it all the way. Dungey kept the Suzuki rider in sight, but was never able to offer a serious challenge. Tomac was again third and Cole Seely was fourth.

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series will pick up in Colorado next week.
