ROUND #2: FMF NATIONAL ENDURO SERIES–MARCH 18

ROUND #2: FMF NATIONAL ENDURO SERIES–MARCH 18

It seemed more like June instead of March as temperatures were near 80 with high humidity as over 400 riders attacked the technical Georgia woods at the 2nd round of the 2002 FMF National Enduro series. As the riders emerged from the first 20 mile section, it was evident that Mike Lafferty would once again be the man to beat checking out with a score of seven while GNCC regular Barry Hawk was the next closest as he posted a score nine. Former National Enduro Champion Randy Hawkins struggled early with carburetor problems and ran out of gas loosing several minutes.

The next long trail section would also prove to be good for KTM 400 EX-C mounted Lafferty as slippery conditions greeted the riders and ‘Junior’ bested all other by two points posting a 8 compared to Hawks and another GNCC regular Robbie Jenks both whom tallied a score of 10.

As the event was coming to the end the final very tight woods section would be very competitive for the front runners as Lafferty, Hawk, Lykke and Jenks all had scores of 11.
