ROMAN FEBVRE CLINCHES MXGP WORLD TITLE EARLY
Monster Energy Yamaha rider Roman Febvre wrapped up the MXGP (450cc) World Championship in Holland this weekend, with 5-1 moto scores. The French rider now has a 102 point lead with only two rounds remaining (Mexico and U.S), making it impossible to lose. He did it at the Assen road race facility, which was converted to motocross with tons of trucked-in Dutch sand. The overall win for the day went to British KTM rider Shaun Simpson, who went 1-3. Max Nagl, the Husqvarna rider who led the championship point standings until being injured, was back in action for this round, and finished sixth overall. At this point, it looks like all the top riders, including Tony Cairoli, will be in action when the season ends at Glen Helen on September 20.
