RIDING WITH COLTON HAAKER

Imagine this: you’re sitting lakeside, toes in the sand, drink in hand, while the sun is shining. There is the humming of jet skis in the distance and the subtle sound of Jimi Hendrix playing from inside the massive mansion just behind you. You’ve just finished riding through the most epic terrain Idaho has to offer alongside World Super Enduro and AMA EnduroCross champion Colton Haaker. You sip your cocktail, waiting for a steak dinner to be served—and guess what? Tomorrow, you repeat.
When it comes to dirt bikers and vacations, Ready to Ride Rentals (RTR) nailed it!

Colton Haaker’s resume rates him as one of the top EnduroCross/Hard Enduro riders on the planet. He also likes to have fun and the Ready to Ride Rentals “A weekend with Colton” was a big success.

RTR had great success with its “Weekend with Webb,” so the company had a high bar to clear putting together the event with Colton Haaker. So, what are these events all about? The quick and dirty is that RTR handles all of the details. You get to ride with a hero. You can bring your machine, or they will provide a rental. RTR provides the vacation package and offers a selection of rental bikes, including a variety of 2020 KTM, Husqvarna and Sherco brands. “Ready to Ride isn’t just a catchy slogan. We want everyone who wants to try climbing a boulder on their dirt bike, for example, to know that they are ready as long as they have the right attitude,” says Amanda Bills , RTR’s Creative Director. Bills continues: “‘Ready to ride’ means you’re willing to fall down, pick up your bike and ride again.” The encouragement is most definitely there, but they aren’t just about talk. Every RTR bike comes equipped with full-suspension setups and top-of-the-line products to ensure each rider feels confident in the machine’s capabilities. Established in 2018 by owners Beau Law and Amanda Bills and located out of Phoenix, Arizona, RTR travels the states offering dirt bike tours, vacations and rides to accommodate most any need or style. From Moab to Idaho, if there are trails to ride, RTR will take you there!

For the Weekend with Haaker event, Colton led the riders through some of his favorite private Idaho backwoods riding trails. From an enduro-style course to tight-winding singletrack to flowing streams with big logs, for three straight days, these guys took it all on! With the assistance and direction of Colton, and aboard RTR’s fleet of motorcycles, there was nothing they couldn’t ride. “That’s a large part of what these events are all about,” RTR owner Beau Law says. “We want to create a safe and comfortable environment where riders feel encouraged to try things they might not otherwise try.” Having a star teacher along helps, as they can give proper guidance, tips and techniques that will help the fledgling hard enduro rider expand his abilities.

To accompany Colton, RTR brought in a staff consisting of Arizona local pro rider Ryan Wells (owner/operator of AZ Dirt Bike Training), Josh Schaecher (Rockstar Husqvarna and long-time Colton Haaker technician) and, of course, the Media/Event Coordinator Mary Rinell (mjsmotophotos). They were also accompanied by two well-known YouTube enthusiasts: Every Single Sunday and BeRAD.

On awards night, epic custom-made trophies (themed towards enduro and in honor of Colton) were handed out to the top-three riders who most impressed the crew with their skills. The awards were given for Most Improved, Most Wrecked and Colton’s Choice. They were designed by an Arizona artist, Levi Peck, who also did the previous “Weekend with” event’s trophies. When it came time to choosing the winners, the crew had such a difficult time agreeing that Colton ended up coming up with a fourth prize. Unknown to the staff, he had brought a limited-edition pink gear set, which he insisted on awarding to 16-year-old Dominic Craighill for his continuous effort and rigorous improvement (without a single complaint) while riding some very challenging terrain. Dominic attended the event with his dad, Allen—a perfect gift for Father’s Day weekend. The other award winners were Rob Tremp, Howard Hughes, and Johnny Preece. To finish the awards ceremony and thank Colton for his efforts, RTR presented him with a custom-made moto-themed photo frame, which included a group image signed by all attendees.

Johnny Preece, Rob Tremp, Ryan Wells, Todd Jarman, Brad Roberts, Howard Hughes, Colton Haaker, Brian Berger, Wade Hoak, Dominic Craighill, Allen Craighill, Morris Baker, Josh Schaecher and Beau Law got together for a high-end bucket list ride.
