REVISED FORMAT FOR 2018 ENDUROCROSS SERIES

The six-round 2018 AMA EnduroCross series will kick off in Prescott Valley, Arizona on August 25, 2018. To further improve on the exciting show, a few changes have been made to the race format, including the use of the “No Joke” lane during every night show race for the Super EnduroCross (Pro) class.

The No Joke lane was an exciting element added in 2017 and requires the Super EnduroCross (Pro) riders to take the extremely difficult lane one time during the race. It adds some strategy to the race but was only used for the main events during 2017. For 2018, the No Joke lane will be used for the heat races and LCQ, adding more unpredictability and exciting racing to the entire night show.

The qualification process will also be changed back to a more traditional two heat race format for the Super EnduroCross class. The top sixteen riders in points will be pre-qualified into the afternoon hot laps/night show and an additional ten riders will qualify into the hot laps/night show via morning qualifiers. The night show will include two Super EnduroCross heat races with a bonus championship point available to the winners. The head-to-head bracket races will also be simplified to include the top eight riders (top four from each heat race) with the bracket race winner earning an additional bonus point and first gate pick for the main event.

One other change for 2018 will be the use of race time rather than laps for all races. This ensures consistent race length regardless of the length and difficulty of the track. All Super EnduroCross qualifiers and Support class main events will be four minutes plus one lap and the Super EnduroCross main event will be twelve minutes plus one lap.

“The No Joke lane and bracket races added a lot of excitement to the EnduroCross races last year, so we wanted to expand and improve on those for 2018,” said Lance Bryson, Director of Special events for Bonnier Corp. “We got great feedback from fans about the EnduroCross shows and all of these changes will only make that better.”

In addition to the Super EnduroCross (Pro) class, the EnduroCross series will again include Open Amateur, Vet 35+, TrialsCross and Women’s classes. The main events for these classes compete in front of packed stadiums during the night show, providing exciting action for the fans and an opportunity for everybody to compete. All the support classes include their own championship points series, as well. Riders can sign up here:   https://secure.tracksideprereg.com/endurocross/
