PRO CIRCUIT KAWASAKI KX450: PROJECT BIKE SPOTLIGHT

Pro Circuit doesn’t have a 450cc factory race-team effort, but it’s definitely not because they lack the capability of building a bike to compete at the highest level. Before Ken Roczen signed with Suzuki and became “Kickstart Kenny,” the Pro Circuit crew built him a KX450, but unfortunately that bike would never see a Supercross track. We decided to team up with Pro Circuit and build our own factory-level KX450.

1. Throttle Syndicate designed the green and white custom graphics kit that’s topped off with a matte finish with a gripper seat to match.

2. Twin Air’s PowerFlow kits are designed to ensure a leakproof, fool-proof fit with a rigid, lightweight, billet-aluminum cage and a billet-aluminum flange with a rubber seal that bolts tight to your airbox. A dual-stage air filter is also included in each kit.

3. Pro Circuit’s Ti-6 titanium exhaust system is designed to improve performance throughout the power curve and is constructed of titanium throughout the head pipe, mid-pipe, and canister, while the end cap is constructed of carbon fiber.

4. A-Kit Showa suspension components are used front and rear with the internal suspension tuning by Pro Circuit’s suspension department.

5. Twin Air’s PowerFlow kits and Hinson’s billetproof clutch components for the Yamaha YZ250 are a huge upgrade from stock. CNC-machined in the USA out of aircraft-quality T6 billet aluminum that is Akadized five times for wear resistance.

6. Manufactured in the USA out of 6061 billetaluminum Pro Circuit triple clamps that incorporate light, compact, reversible bar mounts that allow four different mounting positions.

7. The Renthal Twinwall handlebar features a patented design that utilizes two tubes for a combination of strength and comfort.

All Throttle Syndicate gripper seat covers are made in-house at their headquarters in Southern California. This white cover is constructed of durable rubberized gripper material and features additional green traction ribs that match the custom graphics.

Dunlop’s MX33 tires are designed featuring block-in-a-block technology for more aggressive cornering capabilities with a tread pattern and rubber compound to work well on a variety of terrain.

The peg, mounting bracket and peg pin are precision CNC-machined out of billet titanium for strength and durability. Made in a very limited quantity for the race team each year, Pro Circuit does on occasion make them available to the public, but as you can imagine, they are not cheap.

CNC-machined out of billet aluminum with bearings included, the Pro Circuit KX450 linkage system is designed to provide a plusher feel at the beginning of the stroke and stiffens up as the rear wheel goes deeper into the stroke. This adjustment lessens the need for stiffer high-speed valving, which can cause the rear to feel harsh and deflect.
