PASTRANA WINS 125 TITLE

It came down the the last moto of the last race, but teenage sensation Travis Pastrana finally won the 125 National Championship with a double moto win at Steel City. Just a few weeks ago it seemed unlikely–Stephane Roncada had a sizeable points lead and Pastrana seemed to hit the ground at least once a race. But the young Suzuki star won the last three Nationals in a row and ended the season with a two-point margin of victory. Second place in the first moto went to Travis? teammate (and long time sparring partner) Branden Jesseman. Roncada had to overcome another poor start to finish third. That meant that who ever finished in front in the final moto would win the title. Pastrana answered the call with a perfect moto and a sizeable lead over Roncada.

The 250 class saw Ricky Carmichael put an exclamation point on the 250 national championship that he clinched last week. He traded motos with Sebastien Tortelli to collect yet another overall win.
