ODI CFT HANDLEBARS MAKE SUPERCROSS DEBUT
Riverside, CA, – After twelve months of working with L & Mc Racing, the ODI Controlled Flex Technology (CFT) debuted at last weekends Supercross opener aboard several top teams bikes.
Working with the Chaparral Honda team since their inception to develop the handlebars it was an exciting night to see the newly built 2013 CRF 450 of Andrew Short. Many comments have filled the web about the old-school design that team owner Larry Brooks decided to put together for this season. The ODI CFT bar looked great aboard the bike as Andrew road to a sixth overall finish in the season opener.
‘Comfort is the key element on the new ODI bars,’ Andrew Short commented. ‘I feel that the flex in the bars is a big advantage. It’s comfortable and at the same time helps to take out some vibration and impact in the rough sections.’
The BTO Sports / KTM team looked strong heading into Anaheim. Matt Goerke teamed up with Les Smith who filled in for the injured Michael Byrne and both riders were looking good aboard their new KTMs. After running up front in his heat race, Matt battled with Kevin Windham and Josh Grant for most of the race to finish a respectable 12th place. Les’s night was a little more rough as he went down a few times through the night and did not make the main. Look for both riders to finish even stronger when they roll into Phoenix this weekend.
Also aboard the new CFT handlebars was the NFab/ Ti Lube/Yamaha team with riders Chris Blose and Phil Nicoletti. Both riders had a great during qualifying but fell just outside the top 9 in the heat race. After a great start in the LCQ, Nicolletti looked solid until being passed by Josh Hansen in a move that ultimately left Phil on the ground.
‘Over all it was a great night for the brand and the extension of the product line,’ Powersports Brand Manager Kevin Stevens added. ‘The CFT bars are something different and we’ve had a lot of great feedback and positive reaction. When we headed into the season, we only planned to have the L & MC team running the bars and we are pleased that other teams have chosen to use our product over others. It’s really a testament to the fact that our design team has put together something that feels great and is a quality product that even the top level of racers can rely on.’
