Yamahas Doug Dubach won his 9th Vet World Championship victory in a dominating fashion, crushing an impressive field on a wind blown and quite brutal track. The circuit was newly designed for the Vet World Championships and featured a number on off-cambers with tricky corners. High winds kept the track prep to a minimum, dust at a premium and the circuits surface incredibly rough.
Dubach aced both motos in convincing fashion, topping a field that included Kevin Walker, Terry Fowler, Jeff Ward and Eric Kehoe. Both Walker and Fowler were mounted on YZ450s while Jeff Ward and Kehoe rode Honda CRFs. This was the first time that Ward had been Honda mounted since the 70s (it seems that Kawasaki did not want to cough up a wagon for him) and he piloted his Yoshimura CRF to fourth overall. Sun 30+ ($5000 Purse) Pro. ————————————————————————
