NO SURPRISE AT DAYTONA–MARCH 10

If you had asked anyone who would win the Daytona Supercross this year, almost anyone would have said Ricky Carmichael. Most of them would have continued to say that Mike LaRocco had a good shot at second and Travis Pastrana would win the 125 class. That’s exactly what happened. R.C. put his Kawasaki in front of the 250 class right at the start, with the big four-stroke of Tim Ferry close behind. Carmichael immediately began stretching out his lead. In the meantime, Jeremy McGrath was coming up from a start that was just outside the top 10. As the race unfolded, Carmichael pulled away, while McGrath and LaRocco moved up. By the time the checkered flag came out, LaRocco was in second and McGrath was in sixth. More predictions came true in the 125 class. Nate Ramsey pulled a holeshot on his YZ250F and Travis Pastrana quickly cut through the pack from a fifth place start. Ramsey handed the lead to Pastrana by falling, and from there on it was a runaway. Mike Brown and Tallon Vohland kept the crowd entertained with a close battle for second. Ramsey was able to get into fifth by the end of the race.
