MUSQUIN MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW

Marvin Musquin clearly had momentum to carry into round six of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship after winning the previous round in Jacksonville, Florida last weekend. A slow start to the series for the Frenchman has left him with less than satisfactory results, but his efforts have certainly paid off these last two weeks, taking home both overall wins at rounds five and now six. His win today at Southwick didn’t come easily, however, as for much of the second moto it appeared that his training partner Zach Osborne might have the overall locked up for himself. Musquin’s pass on Tomac for second later in the moto removed those doubts and gave Musquin the points necessary for today’s win, with his 1-2 moto scores. Zach Osborne finished second overall due to his third in moto one, but did finally take his first career 450 class win in moto two. Eli Tomac rounded out the podium in third with 2-3 moto scores. 450 Moto One

Following his first overall victory of the year last weekend and topping the qualifying sessions this morning, Red Bull/KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin absolutely dominated the 450 class in moto one. After grabbing the holeshot, Musquin quickly began building his lead over the rest of the field, finishing the moto almost ten seconds ahead of Tomac in second. Eli started out front early, too, but uncharacteristically started to fade back making it seem as if he wouldn’t do well at all. A mid moto charge back toward the front proved otherwise as we got back by Zach Osborne for second, where he would later finish. The Rockstar Energy/Husqvarna rider of Osborne rounded out the podium in third. After great results in Florida last week, picking up a ride with the JGR/Suzuki squad and qualifying really well this morning, Frederik Noren fought his way into the top five soon after the gate dropped and managed to remain there for the rest of the moto, finishing the first 450 moto in fifth. Here’s how the rest of the field of 450 riders crossed the line:

450 Moto Two

Red Bull/KTM Factory Racing’s Cooper Webb grabbed the holeshot and the early lead in the second 450 moto. His run out front didn’t last long, though, as he made a slight mistake allowing Zach Osborne to get by and into the lead. Osborne put on a charge from there to gap the rest of the pack as quick as possible, and it proved effective as he went on to win his first 450 class moto unchallenged for the rest of the moto. Webb fought hard, but couldn’t quite match the paces of both Musquin and Eli Tomac, who finished ahead of Cooper in second and third. It was another strange and disappointing ride out of championship contender Ken Roczen, as he again fell down through the pack finishing the moto in tenth. Here’s how the rest of the 450 class riders ended the last moto of the day:
