MULLINS TAKES BOYERS OMA ROUND IN A CLASSIC

With the talent pool quite high at the Boyers OMA round, it appeared that the tough circuit that was home to a number of GNCC rounds would come down to a fist fight between reigning number one Jimmy Jarrett, Yamaha’s Barry Hawk, his teammate Charlie Mullins and National Enduro Star Michael Lafferty who was making his very first OMA appearance.
A constant down pour made for tough conditions, yet it didn’t take long for the upper echelon to find their way to the front of the pack. But Jarrett had trouble and pulled out early. His teammate Josh Strange also succumbed early and it left the Lafferty, Hawk and Mullins freight train to dominate the action. It took the entire two hours plus before they sorted out the final finishing order among themselves, with Charlie Mullins extricating himself from a mud hole on the last lap in time to best Am Pro Yamaha teammate Barry Hawk and Red Bull KTM’s Mike Lafferty for the win.

A number of local racers participated, aided by the fact that the race was co-sanctioned by the American Woods Racing Championship Series, and current AWRCS points leader Joe Scherer did them proud by holding his own to finish fourth. OMA regular Chris Bach turned in his best ride to date, finishing fifth despite having to complete the final two laps without a front brake after another rider crashed into him and tore off his front brake line.
