MONSTER ENERGY CUP, 2019: CIANCIARULO STRIKES FIRST IN QUALIFYING

The Monster Energy Cup has rolled into Vegas once again, putting $1 million up for grabs to any rider who can win the three main events in a row. This time, organizers have added a new twist. The three races will be held on different track, or at least different versions of the track within Sam Boyd Stadium. First it will simply reverse direction, then it will add a number of different elements, including a different start.

Qualifying got underway with what they called the outside track and  Adam Cianciarulo started his 450 career right  by taking the top position. Tomac was the top man on the next track, and his two times were combined to make him the top qualifier of the night. That set up a an LCQ event with some surprising names: Chad Reed and Mike Alessi to name two. Alessi did what he does best by taking the holeshot and leading the whole way.  Ryan Breece,  Chad Reed and Tevin Tapia also made it into the main from that race.
