MIKE LAFFERTY?S RACE REPORT RD. 8–JUNE 18 |
What a surprise, another Gncc and another mud fest!
After the first of six laps Watts moved to the front, followed by Jarrett, Blackwell, Shea and Lafferty. As rain continued to fall, the course was rutting up quickly making it very difficult to pass for some, except for Lafferty who have moved to the front and was pulling away from Jarrett and Shea, but Woodford was charging hard. The end of lap three brought most of the front-runners in for fuel, except Woodford who had missed his pit signal and would hope he could go four. From the time Lafferty had used refueling and then getting stuck in a rut, Woodford soon caught him mid way through the fourth lap. The duo continued to battle until the end of the lap when Woodford came in for fuel turning the lead back over to Lafferty. Woodford then set back after Lafferty, catching him again and the battle continued. The two went back and forth until the end, with the nod going to Woodford as the two finished over three minutes ahead of third place Andrews.
