MARCH 17–TY DAVIS LEADS YAMAHA WORCS SWEEP

If this weekends WORCS round on the beach of Lake Havasu taught us anything, it was that Ty Davis never gives up. It looked like the race would go to motocrossers as Nate Woods and Lance Smail bumped bars for over an hour and a half up front, while the off-road specialists like Davis and Russ Pearson were over a minute behind. That wasn’t too much of a surprise because the three-mile track was very motocross oriented, with enourmous sand whoops and soft berms. But in the final minutes of the race, Smail went down and Woods faded, allowing the relentless Davis to move into the lead. Woods hund on for second while Pearson made an amazing come-from-behind rider on his sputtering YZ450 to finish third. A detuned Smail crossed the finish in fourth ahead of Joey Lanza and David Pearson.
