LAST-MINUTE CHANGE FOR ISDE

PICKERINGTON, OHIO — The roster has been shuffled a bit, but Team USA is ready to take on the world at the prestigious International Six Days Enduro, the world cup of off-road racing, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) reports.

With the Nov. 3-8 event only days away in Fortaleza, Brazil, AMA officials have announced that AMA Grand National Cross Country Champion Barry Hawk will take the place of Fred Andrews on the top-rung World Trophy Team. Andrews, whose previously injured shoulder will not be 100 percent in time for the event, will not compete.

Hawk joins the other members of team USA — Ty Davis, Mike Kiedrowski, Mike Lafferty, Jason Raines and Rodney Smith — for the event. He moves up from the GNCC club team, where Doug Blackwell steps in to take his place.

Several team members are already en route to Brazil, while others will follow shortly in time for the start of competition Nov. 3.

‘With our World Trophy team up to full strength with the addition of Barry Hawk, Team USA’s chances in this prestigious event look very good, indeed,’ said the AMA’s Hugh Fleming, the USA jury representative. ‘We’re ready to take on the world.’

Team USA’s involvement in the ISDE is aided by sponsors PJH Brands as the official lubricant of Team USA, and Arai as official helmet.
