LAFFERTY WINS AGAIN

With the Foggy Mountain National being the first real rock run of the 2008 AMA/FMF National Enduro Series presented by Maxxis, it brought out some of the local rock experts to play havoc with the series points. Lafferty who was down by 15 points in the championship to series leader Russell Bobbitt proved that he is no stranger to the very rocky trails of central PA, posting a score of 35 over ECEA H.S. champion Jarod Stoner’s 39, moving Lafferty to within one point of the championship lead. NETRA Enduro champion Brooks Hamilton filled out the podium losing to Stoner by 55 seconds with Ohio’s Jeff Melik and series leader Bobbitt filling out the top five.

The Susquehanna Off Road Riders did a great job of laying out a very challenging but enjoyable 80-mile course for the approx. 350 riders, consisting of six test sections ranging from 5 to 11-miles in length. The hot and humid weather certainly took its toll on most of the riders and everyone had to make sure and keep hydrated throughout the day. Knowing that would be the case the club elected to make the final 11-mile section a pro and “A” rider only section giving the “B” and “C” riders a well deserved rest.

Russell Bobbitt now holds a slight one point lead over Lafferty  (Bobbitt 142, Lafferty 141) in the championship followed by Kirkpatrick, Melik and Bakken, going in to round #7 in New Straitsville OH on Aug. 3rd.
