KIEDROWSKI’S BACK–JAN 19

KIEDROWSKI’S BACK–JAN 19

Team Suzuki’s Mike Kiedrowski made his return to the WORCS Off-road series donning a new RMZ450 and a gut full of pent up desire. Riding pretty much a bone stock RMZ450, the MX Kied grabbed the start, then battled hard with Monclair Yamaha’s Nathan Woods and Team Green’s Lance Smail before running away to a strong win. Forced to pit twice because he had a stock MX tank, Kiedrowski worked through some tightness on lap two to keep the pressure on a very strong ride from Smail, who was KX250 mounted.

Smail proved that he will be a force to contend with after leading for nearly a lap and half. He looked very strong during the first half of the race and made Kiedrowski work hard for his win. WORCS number one Nathan Woods stayed in the fracas for the entire two hour race, swapping spots with MK and Smail several times before taking third overall.

The race was held at Speedworld’s track in Phoenix, Arizona and featured a well thought design, with lots of excellent moto and an off-road loop that turned brutal. Everyone of the top racers were stunned at the ferocity of the circuit and only the fittest of the bunch were smiling at the end.

Tim Weigand, fresh off a 15th place finish in the previous night’s 125cc Supercross West-class race, was fourth on his CRF250R, while local favorite Destry Abbott rounded out the top five on his Team Green KX250.
