A group of OHV enthusiasts continues to meet and discuss the formation of the IL Off Highway Vehicle Association (IOHVA). Several opportunities exist in IL for OHV recreation and one of the goals of the new state group, IOHVA is to bring awareness for ‘a place to ride in IL’. In addition to promoting existing riding areas, IOHVA will seek new OHV opportunities. IOHVA will be the voice of the non-competitive casual trail rider. Riding off highway motorcycles and quads is a legitimate form of recreation enjoyed by many residents in IL. Now they can join a statewide organization that will enhance their OHV experience. Members can expect to be updated monthly on OHV matters in IL. Regional trail rides will be organized for 2007 and the first annual state meeting/ride is planned for next fall. IOHVA’s inaugural officers are:
President: Jeff Fredette ?quot; Beecher, IL. Jeff is a 26 time ‘International Six Day Enduro’ participant and is known around the world for his off road endeavors. He is a leading advocate for quiet OHVs.
Vice President: Todd Darr ?quot; Alton, IL. Todd is part of IL ABATE’s ‘Off Road Council’.
Secretary/Treasurer: Sandy Waterman ?quot; Quincy, IL. Sandy was a member of the first IL DNR OHV advisory board and owns a Polaris dealership, Outdoor Powersports.
Legislative Officer: Jim Korte ?quot; Trenton, IL. Jim is the State Coordinator for IL ABATE.
Public Relations: Lance Martin ?quot; Harrisburg, IL. Lance currently is Vice Chairman of the IL DNR OHV Advisory Board after serving as chairman for 2 years. Lance also is a founding member of the Little Egypt Off Road Motorcycle Club.
Park Representative: Steve Flynn ?quot; Marsailles, IL. Steve operates the ‘Cliffs Insane Terrain’
Park Representative: Tim Jigielski ?quot; Rockford, IL. Tim is part of the management team that operates the Rocky Glen OHV Park.
