HUSQVARNA’S DELONG 5TH AT MOUNTAINEER GNCC

Husqvarna’s DeLong 5th At Mountaineer Run GNCC

May 25, 2014

Round #7 of the 2014 GNCC series visited West Virginia’s Marvin’s Mountain Top greeting competitors with pleasant 75-80 degree temperatures along with a smorgasbord of challenging rocky terrain, elevation changes, and technical woods that only ‘The Mountaineer Run’ could offer.

With his 7th place start Team Husqvarna’s Andrew DeLong’s got to work attacking the XC1 Pro class front runners and tightening the gap with each passing lap. By midway of the 3-hr sprint, DeLong had moved his Husqvarna FE 350 into the 4th trailing the 3rd place Jordan Ashburn by less than 30-seconds. Passing for position on a tricky downhill section resulted in a crash and loss of position to Josh Strang. Fortunately Andrew remounted quickly and crossed the finish line at 5th OA, 5th in XC1 Pro class.

‘Andrew charged hard today, showing again that he has what it takes to run with the top riders,’ offered Husqvarna team manager, Andy Jefferson. ‘He made progress lap-by-lap and had it not been for his crash, a podium finish was definitely in the cards today. Still his top 5 and scoring points was a plus.’
