Torrance, CA: For the annual Daytona Bike Week racing events, fans will be greeted with a host of changes to the program and to Honda teams that promise a whole new level of excitement.
The Daytona Supercross by Honda, now scheduled for Saturday, March 7, will feature the Honda Red Bull Racing team of Andrew Short, Davi Milsaps and Ivan Tedesco, who have graced Supercross podiums all year long on their factory CRF450R machines. The Geico Honda Powersports team will also compete with Kevin Windham, who won last year’s Daytona Supercross in miserably wet conditions on his CRF450R. In the Lites East class, Geico CRF250R riders Blake Wharton and Brett Metcalfe will try to follow teammate Trey Canard’s win in 2008.
On the road racing front, the Corona Extra Honda team is first up on Thursday, March 5th when Neil Hodgson competes in the American Superbike race aboard his CBR1000RR. On Friday, the fabled Daytona 200 will run at night under the lights, and a full field will dive into the first turn with Erion Racing Honda riders Jake Zemke and Chris Peris in the thick of it on their CBR600RR Daytona SportBike class machines.
