HANGTOWN–OUTDOOR MX SEASON BEGINS

The season opener for the 2018 Lucas Oil National MX series took place this weekend at Hangtown, otherwise known as Prairie City SVRA in Sacramento, California. But it could have been a replay of the race from 2017. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac and Rockstar Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne took decisive wins in the 450 and 250 classes, just as they did one year ago. In the 450 class, KTM’s Marvin Musquin gave Tomac the most competition while Justin Barcia, Jason Anderson and Blake Baggett put in solid rides, all promising that their results will improve as the season develops. Jeremy Martin was second in the 250 ranks, although Star Yamaha’s rookie Justin Cooper put in an impressive ride in moto one, leading nearly half the race. In the end, he still finished fifth on the day. The season will pick up again next week at Glen Helen Raceway.
