BLAST FROM THEM PAST: BROC GLOVER KTM

During the winter of 1988, Broc Glover struck a deal to ride the FIM 250cc Motocross World Championship with KTM after his long relationship with Yamaha fizzled. At 28-years old, Broc thought back to his early passion about racing in Europe and got together with KTM for an effort to challenge the 250 GP series. The year was dotted and marked with mechanical issues and going into the final race of the year, at the Angreau circuit in Belgium, Broc knew that it would be his final race of his career. A heavy battle with the Jean Michel Bayle in the 40-minute motos had the El Cajon star putting the KTM machine at the top of the podium.

TESTING: SCORPA 300 SC FACTORY

This week we went out testing the new Scorpa 300 SC Factory. The machine is their high-end trials weapon and features a long list of trick parts including a Reiger rear shock, Hard Rock footpads, a black Tech aluminum fork, Galfer rotors and an engine that is fit with a head with replaceable domes and more focused power. Scorpa was purchased by Sherco a few years back and like the KTM/Husqvarna relationship features much of the technology and major parts sharing with the parent company. Here’s a photo blast of our own Ryan Koch performing a ‘splat’ on the Scorpa. Ryan spends much of his time riding trials, and loved the Scorpa right out of the hole. He said the machine is very similar to the Sherco 300, but is a shade plusher initially, with power that is more meaty down low (which he said could be jetting).  Look for a detailed test in an upcoming issue of Dirt Bike!
