DUNGEY WINS, THEN IS PENALIZED

Red Bull KTM rider Ryan Dungey dominated the Detroit round of the Monster Energy Supercross series, and when the television coverage ended, it looked like he had taken his sixth win of the season. But immediately afterward, the news came out that Dungey had jumped on a red cross flag. As a penalty, he was docked two positions and Jason Anderson was declared the winner. Anderson had only assumed second late in the race when Marvin Musquin fell (another fact not shown on TV.) The good news for the KTM team is that Dungey’s points lead is still intact, and bigger than ever at 39 points.
