CASELLI WINS UTAH WORCS ROUND 8

This was the second WORCS win of the season for Kurt and another for the all new KTM 250 XC. The 250 XC is the same new model KTM’s Juha Salminen has been racing and winning on throughout the 2005 GNCC season.

The first WORCS race after summer break was held under clear skies at the Bull Hollow raceway in Monticello, UT. Championship contenders Nathan Woods, Kurt Caselli and Mike Kiedrowski all gated well and quickly began to distance themselves from the rest of the pack. At the end of the first lap Caselli and his 250 XC charged to the front taking over the lead from Woods.

From there Kurt set a pace that couldn’t be matched, demonstrating the
versatility of the new 250 XC in the tight/rocky technical sections as well as the fast motocross segments of the 4 mile course. After two hours, it was clear that Kurt has stepped up his game; perhaps his experience competing in some of World Enduro series rounds this past summer is responsible for the improved form. He easily took the win with over a minute cushion. Kurt closed the point’s gap on Nathan Woods and currently sits in second place with four rounds to go.

Kurt now turns his sights on the ISDE where he will lead the American Trophy team in Czechoslovakia. This year he has his sights set higher. ‘I not only want to be Top American, I want to compete for a class win, and maybe even an overall. My experience at the World Enduros this past summer taught me I can run with the top European riders. I’m not far off the pace. I’m looking forward to the upcoming ISDE’, said Caselli.

The ISDE will be held in Povaska Bystrica, Czechoslovakia Sept 13 -18, 2005.
