CARMICHAEL TIES IT UP IN PHOENIX—JAN 27

CARMICHAEL TIES IT UP IN PHOENIX?JAN 27

Ricky Carmichael came back once again to tie up the point standings at the Phoenix round of the Pace Supercross series. Arizona fans didn’t get to see a continuation of the Carmichael vs. McGrath battle that took place at the first three rounds, however. This time Carmichael took the lead away from Honda’s Ezra Lusk early in the main event and pulled away, while Mac was buried in the pace. It was lap 15 before Jeremy moved into second, and by that time, RC was long gone. Mike LaRocco was third, which secured him in third place in the points,as well. In the 125 class, Ernesto Fonseca put together his third win of the young season and regained the points lead on his Yamaha YZ250F. Justin Buckelew crashed in the first turn, making it fairly easy for Fonseca to take the win. Now Fonseca leads the 125 West series with 83 points. Buckelew is second with 77 and Danny Smith has 70. Next week the series moves back to California for another round at Anaheim’s Edison Field.
